PROJECT ONE
AMERICAN LEGION POST 416
210 West F Street, Encinitas, CA 92024-3525
Demo and construction are underway with an expected completion date of Spring 2025.
Post 416 is deeply embedded in Encinitas’ fabric. This iconic American Legion Hall focuses on preserving its history while continuing to serve veterans and the community.
Located just blocks from the Pacific Ocean, post 416 is known as “the post at the coast.” It’s one of downtown Encinitas’ oldest structures. Its main building was moved in 1930 from Camp Kearny (now Kearny Mesa, San Diego), and the bar area came from Camp Callan (now part of UC San Diego) in the 1940s.
As an important part of the local community they host events like live music, dining specials, and Memorial Day ceremonies, and special events such as Army-Navy game viewings and a “Salute to the Greatest Generation” for WWII veterans. Revitalization has boosted membership, appealing to both young and veteran members with activities including pool tournaments and live performances.
Post 416 hosts a “Living History” series where veterans from various wars share their stories, educating and fostering community respect for their experiences.
